Just got back from my trip to Ohio. Didn't get to detect as much as I would have liked but I did get out a couple days. First I went to my mothers property and hunted an old homesite. Not much there but an ox shoe and some farm tools. (no pics) The actual foundation is COVERED in briers. (green brier ridge). I'm going to have to wait for fall or winter for that one. So, then we went to another homesite that still stands strong. A developer bought a huge amount of property and will be knocking this house down so we decided to get in and detect as much as we could. This site I found what could be a badge. My friend found an old token of some sort and a 1905 Indian head cent. We also found alot of clad and shell casings from the last fella that lived there. Anyone have any idea what this "badge" could be. A name and a big U.S is stamped on the back.

Your "badge" looks like part of a clock to me.

I'm open for any suggestions. Either way, it was deep and I was happy to find it.

Looks like some weird thingy. :icon_scratch: Nice find anyhow.

I say clock part also. I love the picture of the "barn?" Looks like a really cool place. What kind of coins did you find?

On this monitor I can see your pic better.
I believe the writing on it is something like:
S. Thomas
Plymouth Hollow, CT
US

Which would be the marking for a pretty old Seth Thomas clock, as in 1865 Plymouth Hollow was renamed Thomaston to honor Seth Thomas who died in 1859. So your clock part is pre-1865.

Here's the front of the old Log Cabin. The Barn sits directly behind it in the opening.

Simply amazing, I live maybe 15 minutes away from (plymouth hollow) Thomaston now. And I grew up 5 minutes away from this old site. Destiny. hahah.
