Spanning the historic Suwannee River outside Mayo, Florida, the Hal Adams Bridge is the only suspension bridge in the State of Florida. V.H.P. met with and overcame ‘unique’ and varying challenges during the course of this repainting project. The June, 2007 issue of JPCL “Overcoming Challenges While Removing Lead Paint From the Hal Adams Bridge” authored by Don Buwalda of the Florida DOT, Stephen Haney of JEAces, Inc. and Greg Richards of KTA-Tator, Inc. provides an in-depth view of the complexities that surrounded the project. The base structure had an organic epoxy, urethane system, and the cables were coated with an elastomeric coating with an acrylic finish coat.
