OFF on another adventure!!

You are entirely right, Pepper, the local roads are the best. The interstates get you from point A to point B. By traveling the back roads, a person gets to see all the things between A and B! When time is not a factor, the back roads are the best. A VERY pretty town, La Verkin, UT. Very green valley just before Cedar City. Instead of going north from CC to Draper, UT, the candy store, I will first go east to get back on US89. I will take that up all the way into Yellowstone Park, if the dry conditions haven't closed the park. Must get back onto Int 15 for a short to get MY CANDY in Draper (Salt Lake City). ╦╦C

Interstates were designed for the movement of the masses and it works.

"The bill created a 41,000-mile “National System of Interstate and Defense Highways” that would, according to Eisenhower, eliminate unsafe roads, inefficient routes, traffic jams and all of the other things that got in the way of “speedy, safe transcontinental travel.”

In other words get between point A-B and see little or nothing between the two.

Great to hear you're taking the slower routes across Terry
Safe travels.

[QOTE=TerryC;6775714]I will get CLOSE to NY state but I will have Terry come out to the SE corner of PA to meet me. NY will not let me carry so they are no longer part of my itinerary. ╦╦C[/QUOTE). T.C.don?t let that ban stop you from seeing your friend plenty other devices that can be used I prefer my hands and feet for one.

I have not had phone reception since upper Utah. Let's catch up.... Sorry, I accidentally erased some pics. I stayed in the Cache NF on the night of the 2nd. Saw elk and mule deer on the mountain (meadow) slopes above the campsite.

I'm in the ROCKIES!
attachment.php

Beautiful!
attachment.php

I then went on to Yellowstone NP on the morning of the third. To go through Grand Teton Park, $35. To enter Yellowstone, $35. Campsite, $20. I have an AMERICA PASS (disabled). My cost for all the fees.... $10.

The campsites were restricted to 25 foot vehicles. There were only three sites available on the third. But I am 43 foot long pulling the Jeep. I argued with the ranger until she hit upon a compromise. I disconnect the Jeep. SOLVED!

On the road is good!

LIFE IS GOOD!
attachment.php

Today is now the fourth. I am back on the road. I took this pic of the thermal vents around Yellowstone Lake.
attachment.php

A little further along I spotted this mama bear and cub. She is lying on her back, breast feeding cubby.
attachment.php

I stopped to check my rig and found I had a visitor last night!
attachment.php

Do you see the paw print(s)? NEAT! n to Ten Sleep, WY! ╦╦C

Great pictures buddy! Take care of that back.:occasion14:

Thank you for all of the beautiful pictures and videos. We would love to travel like you do to see this beautiful country. Someday!

Got truck problems! Charging circuits for battery pooped out. I'm in Worland, WY, at an O'reiley's. They closed two hours before I got here. Gotta wait here til tomorrow for service. Here's what I got so far today... Went to the Legend Rock Petroglyph Site south of Cody.

LOTS of pets, here are a few:

I have many more for those that want a copy.

On the way here from the pets, I had to stop and wait for mama antelope and baby to clear the road. I got this pic after they re-emerged from the roadside berm.
attachment.php

And now I'm in Worland until further notice. (I hope I'm still solvent tomorrow!) ╦╦C

BTW, good thing I saw the bear paw prints earlier today. It rained very hard at the Pet Site and the paw prints are GONE!

GOOD NEWS!

came by while I was parked at O'Reilly's. I followed them to their home where he installed a used alternator that he had. I was back on the road by 9PM. Rare Gems in this fast paced world, indeed! In Ten Sleep by ten!

Nikki, Jennifer, and Minerva lived in Ten Sleep when I was last here 40 years ago but they don't remember me.

(I'll try harder next time!)

Ten Sleep has two bars and DIRTY SALLY'S

Today, I also drove out to the Little Big Horn Battlefield. The Indians called it Greasy Grass.
attachment.php

Gravestones were placed where each individual fell.

I'm now back in Ten Sleep for the night and will relax!

Back on the road tomorrow, the sixth. ╦╦C

(edit) One of the rangers confided to me that because the bones of the individuals were so scattered by the time they were buried, there is no way they could tell which bones belonged to which person. Keep that under your hat.

Good morning! Today is now the sixth. I will be off the grid for a day or two in the national forest east of Ten Sleep. No phone or internet for a day or two.

I missed the pic of the Custers. George and brother Tom died next to each other... so goes the story.
attachment.php

There was also a Boston Custer there listed as a civilian. May have been a cousin. I don't know for sure.
attachment.php

See you in a couple or so. ╦╦C

Istead of staying another night at the national forest, I scooted to Devil's Tower today. TOO MUCH TRAFFIC at the gate. Wait line to get in was nearly a mile long.
And then once in (free pass) a law enforcement officer was directing everyone to a WAITING LOT until others cleared the base parking lot so we could go up. NONSENCE! I turned around to leave after taking this pic and vid.

Awesome my friend!:headbang:

I stayed at a Love's truck stop last night in Boxelder, SD.
(insert previous Love's pic here)

I stopped at my favorite I90 town today, 7-8-21, Wall, SD.
attachment.php
(that's 1931) behind my head.

Eggs bacon sausage and two milks... TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS!
attachment.php

But the scenery was ok.

I met Brent and Sue from NY.

I also met Martin and Monica vacationing (on holiday) from Poland. They told me my last name means HEAVY in polish.
attachment.php

Then on the road again.
I will take SD44 across the entire state of SD and pick up US18 to cross IA.
attachment.php

Corn and hay. Corn and hay. CORN AND HAY! That's all you'll see on this road.
attachment.php
attachment.php

I saw a diesel pump in Wood, SD POP 62. Notice, no slot for a card.
attachment.php

There are no restaurants in Wood. I went inside to pay and found FOOD SERVED!

I learned from the owners of the station that June and son Dave, that Karla's, down the road, has a slab with electric I can hook up to for the night. I'll stay here in Wood, SD for the night. A BRIGADOON kinda place! ╦╦C

TerryC, I'm sure enjoying your trip across the country... probably almost (but not quite) as much as you are through your pictures and notes! But I don't have to do any of the driving! Thanks for the great pictures.
