odd rock

Without much information as to the contex as to where it was found, I surmise that it is a piece of limestone.

It was found In a creek bed in San Francisco bay area CA.

Sandstone or a very worn granite. I'm having difficult telling which from the pics.

I think that's fossil coral. I'd have to look up the name. If so, it's Silurian age

I posted it in a fossil forum. Some people thought metamorphic rock formation. One person thought it could be a sponge fossil.

Anyhow thanks for the replies fellas

I'll check out the Silurian age fossils.

Although I am probably wrong but it looks like a piece of a fossilized mushroom.
