What you have is an early 1900's 'window shade bracket;' the roller type. Here's a pic of one that is a little more fancy than yours. Neat find, Breezie

That makes sense, the 'UP' indicates which is the 'left' side & which is the 'right' side. This would be the LEFT side.

You're quite welcome. At least you know the household was affluent enough to have brass window shades, which were probably costly during that time. Now go find some more goodies. :) Breezie
