odd old badge or something, please help and tell me what it is?

found this in a pile of rocks while metal detecting my nephew's yard.
not sure what it is, but it's pretty.
please help and identify it.
it looks like a hat emblem like one that fits in a hole on top of the brim of a hat.
it has a csrew type backing, the nut and bolt are in great shape on the back
the nut is round, like a mentos, but with a hole in it, with treads.

And the coin-looking thing with the star and square hole.......I think it is a concho from a belt.A strip of leather was knotted through the hole to attach it to the belt.That's a bunch of special finds there.Good collection!
