found this in a pile of rocks while metal detecting my nephew's yard.
not sure what it is, but it's pretty.
please help and identify it.
it looks like a hat emblem like one that fits in a hole on top of the brim of a hat.
it has a csrew type backing, the nut and bolt are in great shape on the back
the nut is round, like a mentos, but with a hole in it, with treads.
thanks for looking.

Im not sure here as ive never been in the military but. I would say the letters stand for U.S. Army. The 2 horns or trumpets signify the rank of Captain. Thats my 2 cents.

"USNA" monogram item is a United States National Army collar disk, 1917-18.

how 'bout that buckle?

Just a guess, but the buckle reminds me of a kids cap gun holster buckle -50's or 60's...

Good call on the SAC crest PBK...

this is a pin worn exclusively by Air Force Security Forces (formerly Air Police, then Security Police) on their berets. Back in the day each AF Command (Stratigic Air Command, Tactical Air Command... etc...) had their own crest, but today all security force personel were an identical crest no matter the assignment. Sorce: Me, I've been a proud AF Security Forces cop for over 23 years active duty. Funny to think those are being dug up now!

Oh I know you are correct with the ID, I just didn't realize how lousy my vision is becoming. It sucks.

Hey, I've had my eyes lasered seven times. We'll start a club!
