This piece pierced and flattened a tire while driving, I haven't been able to ID it....thoughts?

Looks like the adjustable foot from an Appliance. Used to level it. Like on a refrigerator or dishwasher or washing machine.

What are the odds that the shaft would be vertical at the exact moment you ran over it? Is it flat on the bottom?
