And by the way— donning my official Moderator beanie for a moment— let's not have any "clever" posts about the name of the inventor! ::)

Thanks PBK, didn't realize I could find it on Google.

Didn't connect the name, until it was brought to my attention ;D. Nope, I won't touch it.

There's another name on the patent, and it's on the wrapper too... L.E. Shunk. I thought it was skunk when I examined the pieces, but didn't list it because I wasn't sure.

By 1937, my grandparents had their seventh child, so maybe they were ready for these items. My uncle had a different theory, but I won't take that any further either. Me thinks he may have recognized the item. :-[

Don't know age, but it's cool to find any old piece in the ground with writing on it.

Hey I found one that says"Merry Widows #3" in less than 2" of soil in the back yard of a house I used to rent which was built in 1942 in Utah. Great Find?

This one sold for $10.50 on eBay. Sometimes you'll see them listed for $20 or more, retail. There are several varieties.
