This is from where a home stood from? Got a 1819 LC out of it so could be from then until 1920 it disappeared off the map.
Anyway I thought a Scope cover but the button shank next to what looks like a peep hole doesn’t work for that idea. The backside is threaded. No markings. 1-1/16” dia. 1F63F405-469F-4A92-8890-A03430F719AA.jpeg66D25029-5BDA-4BAB-BB00-8EB4AA2DB12B.jpeg
Not sure if it’s brass or copper.

I'm thinking a bottle top. A stopper would have been affixed to the shank with a small chain or wire. I have to quit thinking now. I'm getting a headache!

I think the "button shank" is for a chain attachment. It looks familiar I just can't place it. I keep thinking it's kerosene or oil lamp related.

Perhaps powder or shot flask ???

Hey brotha, nice to see you posting! Happier to see you finally finding some history!
Looks more copper then brass to me, I am also going to guess that it had some sort of attachment, would be cool if it was a powder flask.

Thanks guys.
I'm gonna clean the spot up a little. I found another, similar, no threads, no button shank.

Thanks Austin.

May be an old " Coleman " type lantern pump cap. The hole is for the pump rod to & the ring is for a retainer chain.
