On my way home on sunday I'm stopping by OC Maryland to do some hunting. Does anyone know how the beach is after the storm.
I've never been there and since I only have a couple hours what area gets the most people during the season.
Thanks

It should be all messed up. It will depend on where the ocean left the heavies. I'm going tomorrow but probably the north side of town.

The beach is noticeably eroded maybe 1'-3' ft. Detectorists have been all over it since Monday. The report I got was targets were sparse but gold has been found. I was going to go this weekend but was deterred. Too many 3 hr trips only to see the beach has been thoroughly worked with scoop drag marks in and out of every trough and draw. Plus the low is in the afternoon at dark. Definitely let us know how it goes. I need some hope.

The few times I stayed at OC (right at the north end of the Boardwalk) they have tractors (4) combing the beach every morning around 5 AM. I watched one morning as the sand is scooped for trash or anything, thrown into a screen, and only sand returning in a well laid out flat state, making the beach look like no one was there.

I never had any luck in mornings, a little late at night. I didn't go into the water though.

Hi,
I did stop and only found a couple coins. I tried a couple places along it and there was still a lot of "loose" sand, it was not down to the dense layer holding the good stuff. I was digging pretty deep pennies.
On my way home I stopped by Bethany and coin beach.
At bethany was did find some crusty coins and a couple long bullets encased in shell or something. There was also a lot of pieces of copper which were very annoying because they were good gold signals. Some were prety thick and not sure what they were from, someone could make a few bucks collecting it for scrap

Sounds like you got into the WW2 stuff lol. We find 50 cal and 20 mm shells from WW2 target practice from north OC to Bethany and Deweybeach. Sometimes you find pieces of copper flashing sheets that are flat that were used on the bottoms of old ships. If they are curved and mangled they are from exploded ordinance. I like finding the bullets and shells because it means the old stuff is stirred up and heavy targets are within reach. My fav weird find is a big black lump of coins stuck together I eyeballed in the surf after Sandy.

I was MDing in Ocean city on Tuesday near the fishing pier. I just found a few coins.

I need to get a detector that can go in the water. How far in the water were you and what streets were you around?

I was several places this weekend, got a few coins, shells, sea glass, nothing to jump up and down about.

Was in Rehoboth . At the surf line with my dual field. 2 silver ring and of course picks change and junk. Some older memorial cents. Dry sand pretty picked over

Stay tuned.... Looks like another storm is headed that way on Monday or Tuesday

I saw at least 8 people out last weekend We'll see what today brings. It is never all found.
