Umm, well, actually... it's not a rock made of the mineral Obsidian, it is the broken-off bottom of a Colonial Era through mid-1800s "black glass" bottle. Note the deep smooth conical depression in the center of one side and the corresponding smooth conical mound on the opposite side.

Sure does look like obsidian but I agree with Cannonballguy, obsidian wouldn't have that mound and depression like that. In my opinion a black glass bottle piece is even cooler!

its is definitely not a glass bottle. although that's what I thought at first too. you cant see it in the pictures but where you are saying the bottom of the bottle is there is a large chunk sticking out and there is massive air bubble/dimple on the other side. Not the obvious one you can see in the pictures but another smaller deeper one. I wish it was that cool but I really don't think so

Here are some better pictures. I took one pic where the pen is marking the dimple on the opposite side.

NOTE: I don't know why the pics loaded in horizontally but if someone knows how to fix this just let me know and I'll fix it right away. They are right side up in my files.
