Nutting Stone???

Hey guys, is this a nutting stone cause it sure does look like one?

Wish I could say yes or no but I'm not sure. I don't find hardstone artifacts in my areas. Some knowledgeable folks will answer you soon.

Depends on where you found it. Up north they have a natural stone with dimples like that but they are called Omar rock’s completely naturally formed. I blew the picture up and it doesn’t show grinding from where I sit so I believe it’s natural also.

I actually found it in my sister-in-law’s garden. They’re called Mexican Beach stones cause supposedly they’re quarried on Mexican beaches

I don't think it's a Nutting stone.

it looks like to me that the dimple was the result of many, many years of dripping water, maybe when the material was still silt and mud. before being metamorphosis into stone under high compression.

the water also formed the natural drain trough seen in one photo.

bottom line, natural formation in stone

Like I said on Arrowheads website, may have been used as one here and there, but I don't think it was designed and worked into one.
