Detector(s) used
Minelab xterra, Whites DFX, Notka Makro Simplex. Folks the price don’t mean everything, the question is are you willing to put in the time to learn the machine, experience will pay off I guarantee it.
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
Yes YouTube videos, I’m learning but takes time to weed out the hidden spokesmen and trying to find the regular guys who give honest test to us users. Recommend any or on here. Currently I don’t have either, that’s why I’m looking for a fair unbiased person to show us so we can make up our minds, very simple request, I think spring is coming and ground will be unfrozen soon, good luck folks I appreciate your imput

Yeah he’s more fair than others I’m glad you recognize him. So far he’s not sounding like a paid or shall I say a spokesperson of given a free detector, so yes I’m a frequent watcher of him. The other guy i watch with some reserves on YouTube not here is calabash very knowledgeable however I’m not sure he understands we all just can’t afford his xp deus 2, other than that he offers quality information so I hope he continues honest and unbiased opinions on testing and not be swayed regardless of connection or relationship with any particular company because then that would be biased and we users don’t appreciate that. I wish we all could afford the latest detectors, but remember incremental improvements they may offer. All I ask is this show me the epic , banner finds that justify such a cost in 1600.00 dollars ( xp deus 2 ). I’m not interested in the cosmetics and electronics in the control box. RESULTS ONLY. I’m speaking for many. Thankyou all I’m trying to do is learn and help.

I've got a Simplex, I've got a Legend on pre-order. Nokta Makro may have painted themselves into a corner, ... the Simplex has been that good to me. I think that anyone can get real good swinging a 'Hedge-mo-fartmaster' having taken time to truly 'meld' with their machine. All the hoop-la is entertaining, nothing else to me.

I guess I'm a paid shill. You want to compare a $660.00 machine to a $1,600.00 machine be my guest. Now comparing the Equinox 800, to the Legend, is fair. Not only does the legend cost hundreds less, it offers more features. I have fallen in love with mine already and I have barely got enough time on it to learn the basics.

I've seen on this Forum more than one Member not 'happy' with their high-priced machine. It takes two to tango (I hate cliques, lol) Bonding is everything. I am happy that the initial Legend impression is favorable. What made me pre-purchase the Legend was having the most excellent experience with the lowly Simplex, ... it is that good, but it took time for me to get 'good' with it.

Terry to be honest and this will end the discussion maybe on the price of any metal detector or anything for that matter. Since we are talking specifically metal detectors, if you can show me more epic or banner finds than that alone will justify the significance in price to me, please understand if the xp deus 2 user can show me and others significant banner finds enough said. I guess you may ask what do I mean look your a professional I think you can figure that out I learn a lot from you I’m not trying to insult you. But for the sake of this discussion pricing put aside show me and others the so-called many finds we are missing and I say jack pot. Thankyou for understanding my concerns.

It seems that some have a bone to chew on-thats ok.
If a person is a spokesperson of a certain model all the power to them.
I can't justify the time to the $$$ even, of any model of any manuufacture.
$600 is alot for some
$1600 has a few totally spun it seems.
Getting one for nothing it seems has some literally squirrels.
If a user runs out and spends X on anything that's totally up to them.
Congrats to them for purchasing a new 👏
Person who will receive one for free for giving hours in time/posting/well 👏

The Banner equals quality, justification of machine and $$$.
That isn't really what I'm looking for in a machine.
To get a bone for posting up and getting a banner is subjective to say the least.
It doesn't qualify or disqualifies a machine in sensible reasoning.

Fact will a $500 machine find something good?
The answer is yes
Will a $2500 machine find 5 times more going over the same ground?
I will venture a NO.
So buy cheap save oneself $2000
Justification realized.
Spend $2500 believing that one can get more out of a site.
Justification realized.

But slagging off another over try to justify one's own beliefs isn't a winner, just saying.
Personally the time spent detecting is and has been a personal thing.

I was influenced by seeing others getting the Banner, kind of knocked the fun out of recoveries even.
Then I thought ya so what.
I have awards, metals, certificates, cups.
For me its some top shelf recoveries, made over the thousands of hours and countless holes dug.
The more one gets wrapped up in $$$ aspect of anything the less one will enjoy the process
Been there a few times and I have been jaded each time.
I tip my hat to those that post up reviews, some I watch, some I haven't seen.
But to spend an extra few hours each time out, editing, posting, replying to the queries of folks...
Keep that freebie, 💯 %
Let me dig in peace, if I post up a little that's my opinion also.
The Banner is the ones that post up, the time and effort showing off a machine.
What it can do or what it doesn't obtain.
Sure here is a machine, sign right here that every machine is a lessor machine.
Follow the money, or do we follow dedication?

Hey the thread was never about the actual price of it, heck if it was a true game changer it’s work 5000 dollars, I just wish we would cut the nonsense we ain’t fooling everyone. I shouldnt expect such honesty in todays world. Performance equals the price awesome. show us your finds very simple

"Banner Finds," have far more to do with location, than machine cost or quality. I know a fella that has loads of "Banner Finds," that he found with his Tesoro Compadre. Location, location, location!

So buying a $1600 machine won't improve my finds if I'm in the wrong location? How is that possible? I thought I could just buy a Deus II and the great finds would be everywhere! Wow, good to know! Lol!

And of course, your comment is the classic reply to anyone finding the good stuff with a $500 machine. "You live in New Endland, so the large cents and colonial relics are everywhere!" Wrong. It's not as easy as it looks. I can give you a list of at least 100 spots in Rhode Island that will have absolutely no colonial relics or even pre-1900 coins. It's just not that easy to find the good stuff here in New England.

if we all had unlimited money we all would have more stuff stacking up at home wasting away, it’s sad that minelab has a few problems with there units are they simple going update or fix them or do they have a new machine coming out in 2022

You bring out some very good points. Deus for example sends someone a FREE D2 and he JUST BRAGS AND BRAGS about how good it is,. Do you really think the guy gets free detector is going to give a honest opinion HA

Quarter Hoarder I think gave a good understanding of the legend

Does it make a difference on if someone who represents or is compensated by a company being a spokesperson etc. it sure does especially when we the users are depending on honest unbiased opinion to buy a detecto.. Common sense is if your selling a product and get compensated regardless how, your a salesman and don’t care about customers In complete honesty What the heck is so hard to understand that. All I ask is on here or any other site, please put an asterisk next to there profile stating so. If you can’t understand that oh boy. Thousands of videos, we have no clue who’s honest but I’m weeding them out. In ending moderator if they are please do so I’m sure this would be helpful if you want a more honest site.

I think there are a few unbiased youtubers out there. I like Gary Blackwell but I do not live in the UK and yes he was given the Deus but I think he is honest. Then there is calabash, I lost faith in him when he threw the Nox. It seem the Legend has a few quirks that unless you carry your phone with you and do a google search you will never find. here is an example that Terry should be able to relate to:
Myself I will wait until this Fall to make up my mind. I should add this guy had both the legend and deus2 and in a different video uses the deus on the beach as well

Sales are sales regardless of the piker's end game which is to sell, move product regardless of quality.
Then there's the product that sells its self basically on reviews of usage over time.
Does a person fit into the category of first in line or a wait till the dust settles?
I usually fit into the latter of the two as I prefer to see the results from many different angles.
Saying that I understand where the promotional units are for that purpose-to promote.

I can't really imagine a person receiving a machine free or with a handsome factory discount just because they're a nice person that loves the hobby.
No it's to generate sales, exposure, hype.

Now if your go to machine manufacturer isn't shipping out free promotional machines well that's their prerogative to do so.
The question then begs-why?
They don't need to-or they can't afford to-or is it a find out for yourself after a purchase type of thing.

There will be countless of buyers that need to get that machine for various reasons.
Machine will find that next keeper-regardless of any other factor even considered.
I have seen this for many years, folks that buy a machine thinking it's the holy grail of machines.
Believing regardless of skills, the machine will produce every target that is laying under the surface of the grass/dirt.
Then the cold facts of reality sets in, digging iron, can slaw, tabs, no keepers just like every other machine does, but at better/reduced depth.
I guess what I'm getting at is what is this need to achieve really?

Personally I read, watch, can I understand what the person is telling me, or are they too technically advanced.
Screen shots of the settings of the machine being toted. Here's a great grumble.
Some will say look, look right there! Meanwhile I see a dark screen so many feet away that I say to my screen.
WTF! Your showing a detector screen but how the ARF can anyone see what it's showing?

Now take the person that slows down, shows a clear shot of what the setting are, and a clear explanation on what it's showing.
These are the folks that will get another viewing from me.
The person that goes out, and does a machine to machine comparison at a site.
Now that might not produce actual hyped results.(Imagine the new getting outed by the old version or another machine model) It wouldn't sit well with the manufacturer or recent purchaser.
But it's the truth of what the new vs old can do.
This will take sometime to do-maybe in 6-12 months the dust will settle and the 3 manufactures will have sold enough machines to enough users to where the actual truth is documented to the viewers.
Then I'll make an informed decision on if there's a need to go out and purchase another machine.

I laughed when he tossed the NOX, yes I can understand the frigging frustration of a machine going down once or twice. But 4-5 times? That deserves a chop/toss regardless of price/model.
I threw the CTX in the corner for 6yrs, turn it on and it worked again.
Sat in the large shop through every season, and now it's fired up again.
Still can't find the lower shaft actually in the storage.

But I have to wonder about the Minelab 800 and the quality of the machine-leakage issues-CTX seals were crap also-ear breakage-same as previous models-units just freezing up/going down.

Yet it's like the big 3 auto manufacturers rusting out, failing parts yet the country it always buying them and standing up for the manufacturer regardless.

I really enjoy Merrill at Metal Detecting NYC! With that said, if you don't know what you are doing with a new machine, Don't video yourself giving advice and using it until you do. I owned and used the Equinox 600 and 800. I sold the Equinox 600 when I got the Vanquish 540. I can honestly say I am considering selling the 800, now that I have the Legend. Am I a paid shill? Yes, Nokta Makro sponsors my Youtube Channel. Does that mean I am blind to what other machines can do? No. Does it mean I will lie to you about which is better? No.

Hello, I have a Nokta Anfibio and its a great machine. Sturdy, goes deep and extremely accurate. This post grabbed me because I too have been thinking about upgrading to the XP Deus 2, or the Nokta Legend. I see it as those who rush to buy the latest I-phone...soon to discover the extra money the spent was not woth the minimal upgrades. When a person uses a machine for years they know it inside and out. I know people bash the WhiteV3i at times...I can dig a pencil eraser cap at 11 inches with mine. Calabash is a salesman. He is straightshooter. Tell me, I know you used Whites before and others, but is the Legend worth it, is it that good ?
