I primary have been hunting my yard at night with a tracker iv...yes I'm still a newbie but about to upgrade. Live in a 1930's house and the tracker seems to find coins 5-6in deep unless it's a big hunk of brass or something. Here is some of the randomness from my first night sweep of the front yard. Can't wait till I have something that goes deeper. I know there's silver here.

Welcome to TNet! Nice variety of finds. I spent my first decade of detecting with a RadioShack Discovery 1000 aka Tracker IV and found some of my best finds with it, including my first silver....a Barber Quarter! It's a great night hunting machine too since you don't have any visual indicators to rely on. In the right hands the Tracker IV will perform pretty well for an inexpensive point and shoot machine. 'They' say..."It's not the arrow, it's the Indian".

you are doing better in that one hunt than I did all last year! way to go!!! when you upgrade, get a fisher f2 with the 11" dd coil! I just got one, and its already pulled at least 20 coins out of areas I pounded with my ace 250 for the last two years!
