So I hunted a new spot I had a hunch about. I didn't find anything great, just the usual clad and some odds and ends. Something tells me this spot has been hunted pretty hard but I could be wrong. Time will tell.

I got a bolt, a random hunk of metal and some kind of hose fitting (I think).

I did manage to dig up a Mason Jar lid and it still had the ceramic seal with it. That's my third one this year. I also found a nice set of Apple ear buds under a big shade tree. They go for about 30 bucks I'm told. I'll disinfect and use 'em.

I'm amazed at what can be found by simply looking down and the fact that most people rarely or never do.

It was getting kinda' dark when I dug the gold bottle cap AND I didn't have my (reading) glasses. I had another case of the old heart skipping a beat for a second, only to be followed by an immediate letdown. I thought I had something for a brief moment in time. You all know the feelin'.

I also dug up a fairly pristine hollow point bullet/round. Who knows how that turned up there or where the shot originated?? You can see the rifle marks on it really well. I'm not sure what size it is. Maybe someone here can tell me.

Just before I went home I was walking back to my car and noticed that someone had thrown away one of those portable folding chairs in it's bag. I didn't want the chair but I snagged that bag and tossed the chair back in the can. It's a PERFECT carrying case for my Tracker IV. (my original T4 case now holds the BH 202). It's really heavy, has two nice straps and it's waterproof. It's in the laundry as we speak, hence no pic.

I normally wouldn't admit that publicly but on this site, people seem to be quite proud of their junkyard/dump/trash finds so what the heck. Yes I picked through the trash and got something cool and useful to the hobby.

That's pretty much it. Despite finding no real treasure I really enjoyed myself today. Talked to some people, a few younger kids and a couple of cute Latino women walking their dog. The weather was great. I also discovered a park that's been around since the late 1800's although it was too dark to start a hunt. That'll be my next spot to hit; hopefully tomorrow, at least for an hour or two after work.

All in all it was a darn good day. You can't dig treasure every time but you CAN always enjoy yourself if you want to.

Sounds like you had a good time, and to me that's what it's all about, Finding treasure or something valuable is just a bonus

yeah the treasure is sometimes what we make it to be, having fun and enjoying the experience is 1st, the rest are bonuses

Yup. I have to admit I thoroughly enjoy this hobby come what may; treasure or no treasure.

What's not to like?? You get outside in the sunshine (or rain), you get good exercise, you dig up money and cool stuff (as well as the trash of course) and sometimes you swing over something that's really awesome that would have remained possibly undiscovered forever had you not come along to dig it up.

Every kid in America dreams of finding buried treasure at some point. We big kids actually go out and get it.
