Hello all. I got out today for about 4 hours. I got permission this week to hunt an 1851 plantation house. I cold called & got permission! I was really stoked to hunt this spot. It wasn't a bad day but it wasn't what I expected. From looking at my finds you would think I was hunting a 1930s or 40s yard... I was talking to the owners & they said a neighbor had found a class ring there before they bought the house. So... It's been hunted & from what I can tell it's been cherry picked! It's so hard to find anywhere in Charlotte that hasn't been hunted, it gets really frustrating at times... It's also had me questioning my machine, am I not getting good depth anymore? Probably just me being paranoid... (I still pull colonial relics when I go back home) Anyways, I did manage a few cool finds. My favorite is the Tootsie toy which I will be returning to the owners (the husband restores cars & loved this). I found 5 wheaties & a 1940 nickel, no silver
I found another American Medicinal Spirits Corporation bottle cap (prohibition legal "medicinal" liquor) I also found more usual house site stuff. I was hoping that my saving grace would be some coins stashed in the Du Barry compact but when I finally got home & opened it I just got a lap full of dried up powder! I got an invite back so I'll give it another try soon. It's still a lot of ground to cover here, I'll just have to try the less obvious spots next time. Thanks for looking & HH!
