Found this about 8" down, pointing straight down. Not really sure what it is though. Have been told a possible fire fighter hose nozzle. IMG_20170304_150333118.jpgIMG_20170306_174732415.jpgIMG_20170306_174720007.jpg

Hard to tell how big the opening is on the other side is there a way that it looks like it could fasten onto another hose Cool find!!!!!

I can just make it out on my phones screen, so forgive me if I'm way off.

It looks like a metal fence topper to me, but again small screen right now.

The flat piece on the side, shown in the 3rd pic, leads me to think that it was mounted somewhere. Think flower or torch holder.

I googled Antique fire nozzles and they were all brass your item looks like it was rusted or is that just the soil? Can you tell what type of metal it is?

It looks like a rare Olympic torch! No clue what you found there

I want to say it's cast iron. The tip (pointed end) is screwed on.

OO-Rah Devil Dog Stan! Nice haul out of the clay.

It looks like something you could pound into the ground next to a grave, to put flowers in. The screw off cap was there so if you wanted it to hold water, it would, but if you prefer it to slowly drain, it could. It seems a little heavy duty for that, but they used to over build just about everything. Cool find no matter what it is.

I found several of these at an old 1800's house site. It is called a skein, part of the axel of a wagon wheel.

Thanks Kentucky wonder. I've been looking and really found nothing. The cast skein looks right on.

If it was pointing straight down, there's a good chance someone used an old wagon axle as a fence post or marker.... might be a good area to hunt really hard...
