unfortunately, my phone camera is not working but I will try to describe the item(s) and maybe...just maybe...someone will have an idea of what these are. there are two of them. they are approximately the size of a quarter in diameter. but, here is where I am stumped. please let your mind's eye try to picture this:.

the front of the items are smooth metal with hand engraved initials. nothing really special but in old script. it is the back of them that is interesting. the backs show that the item was originally a u.s. coin - a half dollar - that was made into these things. in the center of the back it looks like the head of large nail was soldered/welded on. it almost makes me think it was some kind of a button but instead of having a loop to push the thread through it reminds me of old cufflinks that would be pushed through the material. could these be buttons? and, if so, from what era? I have tried to see if there is a date on the back part where it shows it was once a coin but it is very worn. so...any ideas?

by the way, I am new to this site so I am guessing if someone has an idea and wants to get in touch with me it will happen though my email? or will I have to check back here? just don't know how this works. thanks for any help that can be offered in identifying these items. if I can borrow a camera I will try to take a pic and post.

Good clear pictures with a size reference are very helpful in identifying any objects.

Going by your description, I would guess they might be sweetheart pins. Are the initials the same on both of them?

I agree on love tokens (made into pins).

You have to check here for responses. You don't get them in your email.

Like others have said...
A picture is worth a 1000 words.
I hope you can find a camera and post a picture.
Do they look like they were made from US coins??
If you can get a picture of the back we can give a date range of the coin.

I would have to agree from your discription that they are a type of love token.
Cool find
Congrat.
