I was in a stubble field looking for some coins when a guy from the village took the chance to chat a bit about whats in the fields...
He drove over with a 1943 half track bike in very good condition.... :laughing7:

Westfront, definitely a great find, now how to get it home. Thanks for sharing your story and photos - the half-track bike is now at the top of my bucket list. Good luck with your hunts. Walt

Thanks Walt, something i like to have too...

Saw one in Saving Private Ryan. Always wondered just what the the idea was behind them. Scout vehicle for rough terrain I imagine. Precursor to todays ATVs

The original idea for them was to fit inside transport aircraft and to be used to tow field artillery guns like the PAK 38 and PAK 40 to support the Fallschirmjager (Airborne) divisions. But German soldiers adapted them to all manner of uses in the field. I've always thought they were one of the coolest vehicles ever made, maybe when I win that big lottery jackpot I'll buy one

OMG did he let you take it for a spin? I'm so jealous.

Now that's a nice ride ! Would be great to have one of those on the farm. A little more nostalgic than the ATV's of today.

Nice story/pics Lu. I like the dog. You've left all of us hanging. Did you find the coins before being so rudely interupted? Good luck.

What a cool machine that is, sure would be a nice replacement for my BaJa Warrior I use in the local farm fields, ty4sharing
