Got out for a few hr. today at an old oil boom town. Wound up with a few pieces of junk and a printing plate. It's in pretty bad shape with corrosion but after washing it off and playing with Paint, was able to get a bit of it to show. I saw the name Hawkins but don't know just who that might be. I do know some of the Hawkins here in the county. Trying a couple different methods and resizing. Thanks for looking.

Well we got it inked and print pressed the best we could. I tried to fill in some of the hard to read spaces the best I could without trying to add to the story. The pics of the ink pressing is below.

The story of ........Hope Hawkins........... author is an interesting one.
........ ........ Mr. Hawkins is a lawyer be he was always a bookworm.
Many years ago he met a widely known editor who was awstruck with
the way he discussed the ....nture that ....... .........him if he ...... did
any literary work and that if he would be ....... .... ..... see some of his
work.
The young lawyer ........ ......... ......... in producing one .......... ........
"H'mm said .............. after reading a few of the pages, "want to sell it
......? Mr. Hawkins jumped at the ....... suggesting that

I'm also of the belief that the plate is referring to this gentleman..

Thanks Kim! It took about a dozen tries to get it to print right. I tried using a heavy book, tried pressing the plate into the paper, but finally put the plate on a firm surface and pressed the paper into it with the hand palm. Then rubbed it with a capped marker to get the ink into the paper.

too cool!! I agree with Evy....you did a really good job with it! Imagine that....me agreeing with Evy! Love you guys!

Actually the "Real" text is as follows:

(mising text) . . . . . is still in the doghouse due to angering his wife. He has even attempted to bribe her by offering to buy her a new detector. When asked how long he thinks he will be in the doghouse . .(missing text) . . . . . . . .aka Stoney56 said he wasn't sure. The police were called to their residence on Monday night and discoverd (missing text). . . aka mental granny swinging a cast iron pan at his head. The responding officer had to threaten to use the taser on her if she did not cease and desist. According to the officer, "It was really tense for a minute, I thought I was going to have to fire her up, but she calmed down and put the pan down." :tard:  ::) :) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

........Teletype update this just in.........API:
But he thought better on firing up the taser because she was standing behind the vew water cnnon that BEF had just helped her build!

Thanks guys. Reasearch is just half the fun.

ME, u otta go find some more clad so's you can afford the "Exta" edition. :D
