At least I've got tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers, jalapeños, Anaheim peppers, Thai peppers, sweet corn grapes and apples. As for carrots, lettuce, onions, green beans and cabbage those were simply to irresistible for this year's devastation of rabbits and no good grass hoppers. Every one is saying these grass hoppers are really bad this year.

It's always a battle with that one.

Had a cabbage that up and disappeared in 2 days.
No idea what took it.
Garden has electric fence, 3' ground cloth buried 12", deer fencing is 8ft.
Squash borders took the zucchini plants, moles ate the new bean plants off.
The growing isn't for the faint hearted, but the rewards are great.

I'll be adding improvements next year. We didn't have the more often than not spring deep freeze this year and I'm thinking that's why so many grasshoppers this year. As for the bunnies that's my fault for not fencing things off. Ollie the yard watch dog had passed and the bunnies moved into my yard which has excellent protection for them. They reproduced in great numbers this year. Not sure what's up with the hawks and owls. Maybe they're just full all the time.

It seems that everything has a cycle and I totally get it since Ollie passed on it's a great opportunity for the bunnies to move in.
The bunny population isn't an issue since we have the Foxes and Coyotes keeping them in check.
Fencing is a must around here.

Coyotes can't get at them in my yard and the fox who can jump the fences are run off by the coyotes, before they have the chance to get over the fence from the outside. Indeed it's a warmer cycle this year. I'd say it seems like every 4 years is when the apple tree produces apples.

Do yourself a favor. Plant marigolds & mint (in pots since it spreads) all around the outside and inside of your garden. You won’t have another problem.

The apple trees are producing this year as well here. We have a peach tree that grew out out of the compost. 4th year growth and is loaded with fruit. Not all will be good but we'll get some fruit from it we're hoping. Then there's the battle with the squirrels, that really can wipe out a tree in short order.

The younger Robin's are flying around in gangs and now actively going after these grasshoppers.

I did that last year and it worked. I won't put that off next year.

Those Thai Hots are great little peppers. Nice flavor and heat.👍🏼
That they are very🔥. Also they're very resistant to any of the bugs I've come to observe. I was thinking maybe I could come up with a concoction I'll call Thaibasco, so I checked online and someone already beat me to it. I'm gonna save the seeds and attempt to increase next year's yield. Maybe I'll develop another name 🤔 How's Thai A Bunga sauce sound?

I wasn't thinking biblical at all.

I was thinking of feeding them... to my lizards. 🦎😋
Alas... no grasshoppers/locusts (not even a lousy cicada!) "The boys" (the scaly ones, anyway...) had to settle for crickets, giant meal worms, and dubia roaches... YUM! 😋

It's nice that all our critters are good eaters! 🤗

I heard they are pretty good deep fried!
I wouldn't know. I've occasionally sampled a dog treat, but reptiles' tastes are more like Gollum's...

For me, watching the reptiles eat (particularly the chameleon) is one of the most fascinating parts of keeping them.

This past week, in addition to the crickets, grubs, and roaches, they each got a couple of these as a special treat.... 😁

These no good grasshopper scoundrels did do a number on some of the sweet corn, but not all was lost.

Heartbreaking isn't it. All that work and suddenly the marauders move in. It sucks 😕

Doing some mowing late yesterday.
Looked down between the raspberry rows.
Bunny rabbit-thought gee what a lovely safe place to live in.
Need to get the fox in there for awhile.
