Hello all,
New member. My name is bryan. I live in southern Illinois. I just purchaced a whites xlt. This is not my first metal detector, but i did just decide to get back into the hobby, I was wandering if anyone on here that has a xlt can tell me what they think of it. I just picked it up less than an hour ago. but its snowing outside so i cant do much with it.
The house im living in. when the lady passed away that lived here her son came and cleaned out the house. in the process he found like 30,000 dollars stuffed around the house. I did go out into the back yard and swing the metal detector for a fue minutes and i found a spot that showed up as a picture of a bunch of coins??? how accurate is this machine? if i dig down the 7 inches is it going to be a piece of foil??? I have read the instruction manual online and just not sure how to use this thing yet. anyone care to lend some help to a newbie????

ok update.
i just went outside after posting that.
over the spot that i was talking about
It said +83 some where in there.
I dug it and it was a lid to a can of veggies....

Hey, Bryan, welcome to the forum. The XLT is a great machine, but like any detector you have to practice and use it to learn what it's telling you. Sorry your coin discovery was a can lid, but no detector is 100% accurated. You ARE going to dig lots of garbage while you learn, but soon you will pretty much know when you've found a coin.

If you have any other questions, you can post in the metal detecting section. There's always friendly advice there.

Good luck!
