Weather has not cooperated for, well since Christmas, until last few days. Took a day to detect. First spot I’ve done well at previously with lots of csa finds. Only there for an hour but did manage to rescue a Roundball (.65”) from all the junk.
Second spot was a bit better. Buddy found a 5 cent moose lodge token (long way from home)off the bat. I started a little later but made up ground with my first ever (in the wild) gold ring (or gold anything for that matter). It’s marked 10k with some other words I can’t really see. It’s tiny, won’t go to the knuckle on my pinky…..but still counts. Then found a few flat buttons and a (I believe) CW bullet which will be posted in “what is it” soon. Perhaps just a 3-ringer that lost in a fight with farm equipment? Both armies came through this spot on the way to saylers creek. Also found a piece of thin ornate brass, not sure about that one. Were about to leave and my buddy dug his second flat button….i said flat buttons are fine, but I’d love to find a CW button at this spot, even if union. Less than 5 seconds later I got a hit, and out popped what I think is a Cavalry eagle (if so my first “C”) Not sure about the back, shank is still there but never seen one like that. Nice ending to a pretty good outing.
Update on the cavalry button…..I found the back. It had been pushed into the front of the button. Has a wg Mintzer Phil backmark. Tices 215 A24 I believe, however with only 1 star.
