Found this awhile back. Marked 18k=. Assume its just plated
No way this is 18k

Are the markings just 18K or are they followed by letters?

I would say plated. Sometimes a thin layer of copper is used for a base. When the gold wears through it makes green spots. Tony

In this particular case it appears to be 18k plate on brass.

There have been " Crooks " around as long as there have been honest people. I found a ring stamped 18k that is completely rusted.
