That's it! No more! If I gotta wait til fall, I'll wait! WOW that 3 hours was tough!! :censored:

I wanted to try a new place, (to me), I'd researched and it was a LOVELY little place!!! But, wow!!

Here's the take:

There was a couple rather interesting finds, but it was too blamed hot! I couldn't concentrate!

I haven't made up my mind but I'm thinking this is some sort of printer's block.

Here's a few more close ups for better eyes. Any guesses welcomed.

AND, the good Lord did smile down and give me another interesting find for all my work.

2014 (552).jpg

Non magnetic, silverish in color, tiny bit bigger than a quarter.

I'm pretty sure I've seen this pattern before.

Wanta see the other side?

Here ya go!

"second verse, same as the first!" LOL

I dunno about you guys but I'm figuring it belonged
to Archibald Arnold! You know, Benedict's lesser known brother? ;)

And, ya know? I think Msbeepbeep is right. These two seem to be looking
more and more at coins. Especially when I don't find bling. :dontknow:

Thanks for peeking!

I am a mailman for the USPS and I carry a walking route all day long in the heat. I drink liquid constantly to stay hydrated. Now that the summer heat seems to have really kicked in, I just have a hard time going detecting. Definitely can't go after working in it all day and even on days off its hard to get the drive to go out in it when I really don't have to. When I do decide to go it's usually water detecting so I can stay cooler. Working out in it for the past almost 20 years the best advice I can give anyone is to make sure you stay hydrated. It won't make it any cooler but it will keep you alive. I'm 45 and aint getting any younger.

Your post really cracked me up.
Went out last Sunday, 95 degrees, (but not much humidity, it is Colorado) for about four hours.
Thought I was gonna die.
Had Monday off, woke up, saw that it was gonna hit 100, laughed, went to the Post Office a block from my house, came home, stayed home.
Still, you did good, that token looks to be a maverick, but the style seems to age it a bit.
Kudos!
Carl

Hey WhatIfind, maybe cut your time in half, instead of three hours try one and a half. I worked in the heat and humidity for over 30 years roofing. My best advise is water water water, especially at night, hydration works best from the night before. When we were working in it we started in the dark/dawn the least amount of time spent under that fireball the better. I agree with you, a old silver coin (worth about 3 dollars) looks nice and is fun to find, but not worth dying over.

i had a rough day last week in the woods with the 90 degree heat, little nats, sweat dripping, my tshirt was soaked, no bug spray, then the hike back to the car a quarter mile up hill on a muddy washed out trail..... and i cant wait to go back!!!

Yep, and I once could run for-freakin-ever! I'd only stop when I got bored!

One day, I wanted to see just how much I could do. I ran 12 miles in the morning, then, ran 12 miles in the afternoon, then, I ran 12 miles that night!
And, this was all on a summer vacation day. I don't remember the weather.

But, alas, it looks like I've grown up and out of that ability. My head still thinks of that day fondly! It actually thinks it would like to try it again. But, if I were to try that again, it would be the last thing I do. (Not a bad way to go, actually. ;) )

I have every bit the desire/fever to hunt as anyone! I need my "fix" just as bad as anyone. But, no matter how much I want to fly, not gonna sprout wings.

Like treblehunter says, I just need to be a little more cognizant of certain limitations I have to face. Could hunt for 3-6-9 hours, just need to do them in a little smaller blocks.

Each does what works for them, I just have to realize I need to pay more attention to what's taking away from my enjoyment. So that I can continue hunting for a long time to come.

That is what is important. Endurance! Someone made the point that I am not really old and I told them that I planned on doing this and posting here on this fine forum when I AM and didn't want to change my name THEN, lol!
I think you know my earlier post on this thread was made tongue in cheek. Some people haven't come to realize I joke way more than I am serious. That's just me. If laughter really is the best medicine, I should make that goal of posting here when I consider myself really the "Old Dude".

Yep, I do pick up on a "tone" pretty quickly. A LOT quicker than I might let on. But, I dish out as well as the next too. ;)

I'm just trying to point out to those who get caught up in the fever that there really are more important things. Like being able to do this as a centurion.

;)

Keep the barbs a-comin' !

Nice finds, man I know what ya mean about the heat I thought I was going to pass out yesterday just to humid for me..

Well, the heat wasn't the issue yesterday. I did 2 short hunts, but toward the end of the first, I could feel my lower back tightening up. Last night and today, it didn't hurt, but when I went to get up, it is giving me that old " if you move wrong, I am going to hurt you!". Once I get up, I am fine. Getting older has it's disadvantages as well as the advantages.

Yep, I count myself as lucky. Most of the people I grew up with are either gone or couldn't even begin to even think about doing what I still can. I always says, don't get old, there's no future in it. :dontknow:

Still, even though I can, I really must be careful to listen to what my body tells me. Take it easy for awhile!

good body mechanics help!, I always bend at the knees and usually get on my knees while digging/retrieving. Only problem with that is sometimes my knees snap crackle and pop when I get up
