That's it! No more! If I gotta wait til fall, I'll wait! WOW that 3 hours was tough!! :censored:

I wanted to try a new place, (to me), I'd researched and it was a LOVELY little place!!! But, wow!!

Here's the take:

2014 (547).jpg

There was a couple rather interesting finds, but it was too blamed hot! I couldn't concentrate!

I haven't made up my mind but I'm thinking this is some sort of printer's block.

Here's a few more close ups for better eyes. Any guesses welcomed.

AND, the good Lord did smile down and give me another interesting find for all my work.

2014 (552).jpg

Non magnetic, silverish in color, tiny bit bigger than a quarter.

I'm pretty sure I've seen this pattern before.

Wanta see the other side?

Here ya go!

"second verse, same as the first!" LOL

I dunno about you guys but I'm figuring it belonged
to Archibald Arnold! You know, Benedict's lesser known brother? ;)

And, ya know? I think Msbeepbeep is right. These two seem to be looking
more and more at coins. Especially when I don't find bling. :dontknow:

Thanks for peeking!

I have a choice, go crazy or, die. I'll choose the former. I'm closer to that anyway. ;)

If it is hot, there better be some shade trees to hunt! WOW!

I'd like to wait for cooler weather too, but I'll just keep trying to get up earlier and have shorter hunts.
Keep cool out there.
HH

Seems crazy but I've literally soaked my tshirt with water, rung it out, and wore it and it works pretry good in the miserable heat.

Just a thought if you feel like braving the heat

I'm no quitter! I still remember chomping at the bit when the ground was still completely frozen and I went out to give it a try because it "warmed" up to 10 deg F, lol. Last year, I was hunting on a very humid day and had enough of the sun. I decided to hunt a tree line just to get a little shade. Because of this, I found my oldest coin ( at that time ) under one of the trees. As long as I can dig, I am gonna try. Of course, you "old" fellows might not feel the same, lol!

Yep and one more thing that comes with age. A better understanding of the aspect that there is NO coin, ring, artifact worth one's life. I'll remember to bring some flowers up for when the thing being dug up, is you. ;) AND....I'll still be able to plan a new dig, you will be a-quitted. :)

Alcoholics Anonymous?

That's the first thing I thought. But, script A's?

Ya know, if you look at it in a certain light, it could also be "A M A" . :)

Don't all AMA symbols have the serpent and staff?

Try a rubbing/transfer on that print item. Put a piece of paper over it and rub over with the side of something like a crayon. Or, take it into a dark room and using a small flashlight, shine some low angle light across it. If you experiment with the angle you might just see what it says. Another thing I have done to read dates on obliterated coins, is, take acrylic paint, like white, then paint several layers over them and after they dry gently rub the paint off...the high points will obviously wear first, but sometimes that in combination with the contrast of the metal color and the white...you can actually read it.

I like the AA or is it 'AVA' coin. Thanks for sharing!

Is that AA, AMA token heavy like real silver or light weight aluminum possibly?

I have started hunting at night, its alot cooler and no people really. Last night i got ambushed from the backside by a ice cold, silent, high powered and deadly automatic sprinkler system at the park. I almost fell over dead on the spot. But me and my MD got away unscathed fortunately. Im be watching out for them badboys next time, lil f*&*^rs got me good lol

After cleaning a bit and looking pretty closely, I'm thinking this may have a base of brass/copper with a coating like maybe a paint. Doesn't seem like plating. I also don't think it's aluminum. Strange piece ain't it. :)

Yes it is, the font and style have me thinking maverick and casinoes for some reason, neat lil bugger whatever it is. Casinoes ever come out with a non denominational chips or tokens back then, or is there any casinoes in your area?

You know it is too hot to be safe. Especially in the direct sun. I am hunting a place I waited a year for. I am going early in the morning and again in the evenings. And yes, I am an oldie. Can't take that heat anymore. I am hoping to get a break from this terrible heat. SOON PLEASE!

I know all too well. I am no slouch when it comes to endurance. I used to run marathons and can still cover the distance, just a LOT slower now. ;)
But, if one doesn't pay attention to the signs, and they allow their head to keep writing checks the body can no longer cash. There could be just one more hole in one's future.

I'd say follow the shade but the sweat still pours in what little shade I can find, you would think that we would be twenty pounds lighter from all the sweating. lol

Yep those two are into coin collecting!
Nice finds! At lest the ones you get to keep!
That token is either "AA, AVA, AMA, M, or W "(up side down!). That may be a varnish like coating.
Could the plate thing have numbers on it?

I hear ya on the heat! I go out early Sunday mornings, to places with shade, and I am going to start carting a small cooler with ice in it, and keep putting it in the wet towel around my neck! I won 't be able to tell if it's sweat or melting ice I'm leaving a trail with!
I had to quit early last Sunday, didn't have the cooler with me.
Got to keep drinking the water too.

Yeah, this token is a puzzler. The print thingy, I think I see numbers too, just don't trust my eyes.

The heat thing? This is just a stupidity on my part. I go out in the middle of the hottest day, hunt in the sun with long sleeves and a hat and then wonder why it's too much. LOL I simply have to choose my battles better.

Thanks!

This is true! We don't need to be putting ourselves in the heat of battle unless we have to!
Stay cool and live to detect another day...somebody has to find the goodies!
