Shame your hunting season is so short.

Man oh man that's cold.
I imagine some ice should be pushing more artifacts up to the surface..on the bright side.
Hope your holiday season is a good one.. filled with family and friends.
You can take some mosquitoes from down here if you want them.

Larson1951: those southern boys don't know the life that we live in up here in the north, LOL We are also getting blasted today here in Michigan. 19 degrees standing temp with a 0 degree wind chill and it is going to get worse,!!!!!

Hey Steve you can keep the -0 temps and I will keep my bugs. I can buy off and use my thermacell, then no bugs and not worry about my pipes that are only 12in the ground that never freezes. I have to admit your country is very pretty, love to see it but I'll live in the south any day. Happy Holidays.

Come on Man!.....Just throw a Scarf on and get to hunting! :tongue3:

Oh...might want to Dbl up on them socks too

So, are ya gonna take up the manly art of knitting whilst trying to stay warm?

I feel your pain Steve!!! Not only is it cold, everything is white now too. It will probably be April before we see dirt or gravel again.

This was what I was recording for lows a few mornings ago. This is actual temp, and I did see 21 below for a bit too.
Shot and dressed my last deer for the season Saturday afternoon and it was -4.

hey hey thanks for all the kind words
i didn't mean to turn this into a chat and never thought i would get so much response here

mamabear i can knit but i'm gonna play guitar and banjo instead, maybe try to organize a few frames also

you know diggin-dmps i would go huntin' i'd have to shovel the snow to see the dirt hehe

yup gator, rock, hognutz, and eddie and outlaw i guess it is what it is with the bugs down south and the cold and cracked flint up here........

...can't change it lol

Larson, Mosquitos aren't near as bad as polar bears. That is a bad joke, I couldn't resist. Sorry about the negative weather. Figuratively and literally. Can you guys do any roofing in that type of weather? I know this has nothing to do with artifacts, but I know snow and ice is bad on a roof. How do you knock a job out in conditions like this?

I have been out hunting in what I call the blistering cold with the wind so strong that I walked backwards just to cut the wind. The wind will tear my eyes up and I can't see a thing.

A strong people put Buffalo hides and meat to good use and kept right on a goin.
Somebody had to get some fire fodder up eventually though!
Probably employed some hide to do that too.
Brrrrrrr!Seems hard enough on the critters. I,m done hunting this year.
Hang in there .

Holy cow that is cold Larson. Good weather to stay inside and take an inventory of life and play your music with the lady by your side. It is time for a little show and tell and hunting stories from our Northern brothers. I should be able to set the bow down and start hunting artifacts next month.

It was -100f windchill when I was stationed in the UP. -40f +50mph winds. That is why I am in Alabama now. It is a freezing A$$ 42 out right now.

LOL, I did see minus 50 actual temp once when we were doing a project in Rochester Minnesota about 20 years ago. Now that was cold.

It was up to 16 today and after the recent cold snap, that felt so good all I wore was a sweatshirt all day. We are looking forward to -11 tonight.

And to think, before I moved to S. Dakota, I lived in Hawaii.

wowsers! that's too cold for this transplanted Georgia peach and I've been fussing about NC Winters brrrrrrrr

Best use care when hunting in that cold weather...your fingers might freeze off and your hand turn to stone like this poor fool's hand did...so sad 100_7390.JPG
