I found this out by a tree in my yard, I haven't the slightest idea what it's used for, it appears to be once piece of metal inside the other, with a hole in the bottom that goes all the way through. Comes up as .50/$1 every time for some reason. It seems to be very soft and easily scratched/bent. It's almost exactly half as tall as a can of soda and 1/3 wide Any Ideas?

I too am in the quicksilver camp. My Dad was always taking the tubes and relays out of our old TVs and taking them down to Safeway to test them on their machine. I backed over one ot them one day and the seal on the bottom is some kind of stiff treated cardboard type stuff. When it is broken it allows all the guts to fall out. The tube or part number was usually stenciled on that cardboard seal in white ink. Monty

lol yea Monty, I remember. It seemed that every drugstore had a tube tester. Those tubes always went bad. I was always at the drugstore testing tubes trying to get a better TV picture. lol. I think the tester was free but the drugstore sold tubes as well. Those were the days. I bet that someday old tubes will be collectors items. Some of the larger ones are pretty.
