✅ SOLVED ...no clue. Found near an old 'War of 1812' outpost. Trigger assembly?

I found this buried along the shores of Lake Michigan (tip of the lower peninsula)...it was buried down to the point that I could barely pick up a signal. It appears to be a trigger assembly but none that I would ever recognize. The parts all appear to be made out of steel - not all that sure though.

Ok - NOWWWWWWW I think this is solved. There is a "Fox" with the letters E.B. underneath. A quick search confirms that this IS the "Tombstone Fox" marking of a Barnett Gun. Man....the Treasurenet crew never ceases to amaze me. THANK YOU!

Interesting it has the hammer screw tight to the plate but with no hammer/cock? It seems it was lost separate from a gun.

The screw is loose...as if the hammer was there and rusted away (which would be odd as the rest seemed to hold up in the fairly dry soil).
