For my first time, I went out at night! I searched Siloso beach on Sentosa Island (Singapore) from 0800pm to 11:00pm, and found the beaches deserted except for three people fishing. The temperatures were a lot better, a nice 80F with a comfortable breeze. This was so much better than my usual daytime hunts! My three hour beach hunt with my V3i brought home $14 in coins, a bunch of junk rings, a sterling silver bracelet, a copper bracelet, and about $500 in gold, plus a diamond. I only dug up 6 pieces of trash, and not a single pull-tab. ;D Not bad for a three hour stroll at night.

(this lovely stone ring was sitting on top of the sand... in the dark I could just barely see it, and thought it was a bottle cap. But my machine made no sounds over it, so I picked it up. Glad I did.)

Really nice finds there. I've been thinking of traveling abroad to detect a particular beach I found on goggle earth. My question is how can you get your finds back home through customs in the U.S. Could you just ship it UPS or FED-EX it?
Keep up the good work PKennett !

Not sure. All my mail avoids customs and duty inspection (both foreign and U.S.) and I do not pay any shipping costs from overseas back to the U.S.A. And when I move from here in July, my employer moves my household items.

Ah..the life of the wandering diplomat...amazing what a little security clearance will do for ya! :laughing7:

Great bunch of finds there Peter :icon_thumright: Singapore has really spoiled you, and when you get back to the states your hunts will probably be a bit disappointing for a while :crybaby2: Keep us posted on your finds, we like seeing how the privileged are so successful :notworthy:

Hey, good for you Peter. It reminds me of when I was in the service of Uncle Sam, same deal.

Yup.. very similar. I did 24 years with the Air Force. and then after I retired I found that I couldn't be happy without traveling abroad. Fortunately the State Department hires up to age 58, so I started this new career at the age of 46. I just love it!

Well you look like ya got quite a few years left to detect. Hope your next assignment does ya good.
My stint in the service left me with a trade I was able to turn into a business.
I'm going to PM you the coordinates of a beach far away that I was sworn not to disclose publicly. On google earth you can easily see why I want to get there with the Excal.
