Night Vision

MJ, I thought that I said "used" not "use" and once I saw your post I reread mine and corrected it. Have very little knowledge of the navy past or present other than six months on Cam Ranh Naval Air Facility in 1971-1972 while i was in the Army. thanks, siegfried schlagrule

That was never intended to be a correction of YOUR statement Siegfried... just a correction of the misconception of modern use. I hope you did not take that as a personal attack - it was not. :) Originally I was reacting to the fact that two threads were running on the same topic. Everyone's input here was great...

No worries MJ, I'm a pretty easy dog to hunt with. I never mind when someone updates my knowledge either. My connection to the US military ended the year Carter blew the Iranian hostage rescue. That would be 1981 most likely. More than 25 years ago anyway. The only night vision we had was "Star Light Star Bright". best regards, siegfried schlagrule

I have one of the $150 monoculars, and if you have "moonlight", you can see pretty well, but never that clear, just can't seem to get it focused real well. The IR illuminator is only good to about ten feet. A cool toy to play with while camping, watching wildlife and such, but I wouldn't want to depend on it for travel at night.

I think they have those invisible tunics now. Just buy one big enough to cover your whole body and walk around in the daytime and nobody will see you. And while you are at it, I think they still sell those X-ray glasses. You might need them too. I am glad to see you are not in the states walking around somebodies yard at night with those googles on. In my neck of the woods a person would get shot at. This thread is kinda disturbing.

The only thing that will do what you described are Gen III NVG's and they are expensive. I did get to test something new last year that was a handheld NVG plus FLIR. It was something straight out of Star Wars. You could actually integrate the FLIR and NVG into one image. You can probably pick one up for $20K ;D.

NVG's are cool but the depth perception suchs at close range. Maybe you should try one that works off of ambient light only and see if that does what you want. Don't expect much if you aren't willing to dish out at least $3000.

try a Nitemax solid state vision viewer....rechargeable battery...can read a newspaper in the dark...i could sell you one for about [email protected]

In many places hunting at night might get you shot or you may find your self looking down the barrel of a 9mm glock in the hands of the police. >:(

Ever seen those eyeglasses that have a computer moniter in them? Not cheap. A small camera with IR lights (LED'S) is very inexpensive.
