Tough to decide which is my favorite find of the day. The homemade lead flat button is certainly an uncommon find but we all know how difficult it is to dig a 3 cent nickel. Only my second one ever. But Id have to say that the 18th century paste stone button set in silver is it. If anyone thinks its later please let me know. Ive only got a few that are set in copper so I never expected a silver one

Outstanding finds! Very envious of the 3 cent nickel- have yet to find a 3 center of either type in 32 years.

Incredible coin. Like you I’ve only found one. So hard to find them in decent condition but looks like you got a good one, congrats. Awesome button too, never seen one like that.

Very Cool!!! Don’t see these much at all!!! Congrats!!!

Its actually a 1690-1720 Cufflink button (one of a pair), earliest type produced. Congrats.

Thanks. I realized it was part of a cufflink after I posted but still wasnt sure of the age as the site seems to be 1720-1870 period. How do you differentiate mine from a late 18th to early 19th example? The shape and style of the silver setting?

Because this one is contemporary with the Stuart Crystal types of 17th C. Google them & you will see the similarities.

you don't see those every day, very nice find
