Nickel Question

Some are, but most aren't. Chances are yours is garden variety non-proof.

thanks immy, if i am not troubling you too much to ask, how can i tell the difference, this coin is lightly circulated and still has a great shine too it?

If you've seen a proof before you're familiar with the mirror-like finish they have. Even circulated proofs still display some of it, but in areas less prone to wear. On a nickel, look for traces of this mirror finish in the letters, especially the "D" and upper part of the "R".

It has a nice shine too it and im gonna keep it as a variety, but by no means does it have the finish of a proof. thank you for your help, HH Bill

Any time Bill! Proofs also have sharp rims on both sides. Something else to check for.
