Went out this weekend with almost no money, but with a lot of hope. Managed to find a couple of ounces of sterling jewelry, earrings rings, ect. The big score of the day was a very nice watercolor by listed California artist Ruby Zahn White. As usual, I didn't recognise the artist when I bought it. I could tell it was an original and of good quality and technical ability, the price was right ($10)and worse case I could use the glass in the frame for my own frames (I still have three etchings I need to make frames for, but no glass). When I got home I did a search on the artist and became pleasantly suprised with the results. She was very popular in California in the 70s and early 80s, but died in '86. This piece was one of her last pieces, dated in '86. Her values are generally in the low four figures. Unfortunately, there were two pieces by her, but I was too broke to buy both. Once I discovered who she was, i borrowed some cash and went back, but the other had sold.
Sorry about the quality of the photo. I'll try later when I remove it from it's frame.
