I have found many of these. All of these are either like new, or wore slap out. Are they large knives or what?

Another odd find that I frequently run across are these.

These are also found in a wide variety of sizes.

I see that in the bottom 3. Why do the top 3 have a notch in the same spot? I can show more of them. My friend has one that is 16'' long. Same notch.??

the ones on top could have been
unfinished spokeshaves that just did not work out
but i might be thinking a bit too deep about these.....
.....but i like the material... it is something we don't have in this area

Considering the amount of rayholite in North Carolina that's probably what it is. here are pieces being sold as slabs on a knapping website.

I'm sure it's stone. The area it was found in is covered with glacier sediment.

You guys need to find some girlfriends or something....

those aren't necessarily notches, looks like they used them as scrapers

test for pertrified bone
if its pertrified bone
and you stick your tongue to one end and it tries to get stuck its is bone

It doesn't work on all of them. It kind of depends on how they were preserved or fossilized. It would be funny to get you to lick them though. LOL.

Lol. It is a creepy thought, but I'm sure we ingest nastier things daily.
