Another outing this weekend. here are our finds...

1880 Victoria Silver Sixpence :icon_thumleft:
Musket ball
A few buttons
Couple of odd coins, one is 1800.
Small Warwick badge, Military? Scout?
Few bits and bobs

There is an item that is quite heavy with two small holes in either side. I would like to know what this one is if anyone knows.

The Warwick is a Military Shoulder/Lapel Badge - nice to get it whole, it's at least WWII but might be WWI.

Always great to see silver, whatever age, but I like the one I found today better.

PS. the broken brass thing with the 2 holes is the top of an old beer barrel tap key.

Ah thanks. We have found one of these before.

Thanks for the ID on the badge.

Your silver is unbelievable. 45 - 10 BC?! Do you have any idea on the value of this?

The round item with two holes in. You found one of these today also. What are they?

Surprisingly very little for it's rarity, only about £100 on a very good day, maybe double in the US market.

They are Lead Hem or Curtain Weights, many of these date to the Victorian period (normally what we get in the field) but they were around for a very long time.
If in the Hem of a Victorian Skirt, it would stop the wind blowing her skirt up & people seeing her ankles.:laughing7:
Another interesting story is some rich people would hide there gold Guineas/sovereigns in the curtain hem instead of the lead weights.
