Relic Hunting
Hello Everyone,

Today was a beautiful day for detecting, no sun and cool fall temperatures! I went to a local 1800’s farm house to hunt for relics and possibly old coins. I seem to have found both! The hunt started at 7:30 am and lasted to 11:30 am; using the AT Pro in Pro Zero mode, ground balanced then lowered by 7 clicks, iron audio off and sensitivity maxed. I did not show the trash, but trust me there was a lot. The easy ID objects were the Mercury dimes (1936D and 1945), 1920 wheat cent, “D” buckles and part of an old ornate bracelet. The two un-identified objects were a coin/pin/button (?) — With two head busts on front. The reverse has nothing legible and it’s slightly convex in design. The other is a very toasted Large Cent with severe environmental damage — hopefully I will be able to work on it a bit more so as to determine the type.

I also found three old lipstick tubes from the turn of the century under a large tree.

Sure had a great day swinging today.

Thank you for looking!

Nice Mercury dimes and buckles! Great day to be outdoors.

Your pin with the two busts on it a campaign piece from the 1924 presidential race. It is La Follette & Wheeler.......Nice finds!

Should look about like the image provided...if it cleans up any better it might be worth about $65.00 or so...

Thank you.... La.Fur Trade and Got-Good-Tones for the help! :occasion14:

I cleaned up and researched the 1924 Presidential Campaign Jugate pin, turns out that La Follette and Wheeler were Third party Candidates in the 1924 election. They won one state and 16.6% of the Electoral college.

Very interesting piece of history that motivated me to research the artifact and event. :icon_thumleft:

Thank you again,

Congrats Doc on the silver and relics. The Presidential Campaign pin is a wonderful rescue. SD

That bracelet piece could actually be a chain link from a piece of farm equipment.
