I picked up $165 in dime rolls yesterday - that wasn't the number I had in mind, but they had less nickels on hand than I wanted so I had to shuffle my withdrawal around some. They didn't have boxes at this bank branch, said they only rolled their own coin. But the dime rolls I got were all Loomis.

I got three silvers - 1951-D, 1952-D, and 1964-D. That brings my grand total to 6 on $490 searched... haven't had a skunk yet!

I got as many silvers as I got 2009-Ds (3 of those and 1 P). I've been counting and saving the 2009s just to see how many I get. I've probably got 10-12 total now.

Picked up a full box today to go through over the weekend. Hopefully my good ratio continues.

What's the deal with 2009's? Few years ago on here people were looking for them and I had rolls of them I was selling. Still have some...just can't remember why they were wanted.

(Relatively) very low production (nickels also). 45.5M on the Ds, 95.5M on the Ps. You just don't come across very many in rolls usually.

I average one 2009 any mint per $190 searched.

wow that is an awesome average. I was skunked on my last 4 dime boxes.

I'm telling ya...dimes are hot right now in this area. I had a "down day" though with my last four boxes that I did on Thursday night. They only yielded five silvers - four Roosies and one Merc.

Well this box is a bust. 99% shiny new 2013-Ds. I opened 5 rolls and threw in the towel. I'm going to just exchange the rest of the box for a different one I think.

Don't give up. I had a dime box just like that yesterday. There are some older dimes mixed in usually, and you never know what you'll find. I had a nickel box like that two weeks ago and found a silver war nickel.

Good plan. When I get new solid date rolls I like to trade them for cwr. HH

Well, that's possible but when I look at the ends and every last one is super shiny and new, I just trade em for cwr.

I couldn't stand to live with the what ifs. It only takes a second to bust the rolls open.

I have yet to discover a bank in our area that has CWR. And I've been to a lot of banks, including the one that James banks at. The coins are already in your possession, might as well see if you have anything. Like Thorne said, it doesn't take long to go through them.

True, but then you have to dump them and for me, it's just not worth it, given the high probability of solid date boxes. My understanding of what happens at the wrapping facility is that when the new coins come in they are in bags and get dumped in the hopper. If a lot of the new coins are dumped in all at once, then mostly solid date boxes come out. But at some point there will be transition boxes that contain a mix of new and old.

Some areas are like that. No cwr available. Don't know why that is. In my area though, I can usually trade.

I heard a couple banks say that they've gotten ripped off by CWR - a couple coins on the ends and a bunch of fill in between. That and every bank has at least a decent coin counter now. Even when I requested that they hold them and I'd buy them for what they bought them for, they still weren't willing to change the process. The closest thing I've been able to get is buying full bags off the coin counter, but now I can't find a bank that allows even that anymore. Now our only option is buying rolls wrapped in-house at a couple small-town banks.
