I'll say!! VERY nice!! Where did you dig it? I have family in Scotland, would love to plan a trip there..my mother, born and raised there, showed me a park across the street from where she was raised, and i actually played there when we went in 1972...she told me of a battle that took place there on that very location a LONG time ago...I can't think of the battle, I will have to ask her, but it is possibly the battle of Falkirk...not sure who participated I need to polish up on my history...GREAT COIN!!...Ddf

THREEPENCE?

Can you see the Mint-Mark to date it?

Anyways, any hammered is a good day, so congrats.

Looks like the Greek cross to me. That would be Tower mint (1578 or 79). Great condition too as most Lizzies wear quickly and show little detail. Nice find!

Excellent. I hope and pray someday I'll find hammered British in the New World. Congrats, and I'm happy you were able to date it!

That Lizzie is in lovely condition, I would wager you do not find many like her in the wild.

Congrats! That's one on my bucket list. I'm settling right now on one bought from the coin store already slabbed...:laughing7:

Lizzy is known for its weak Obverse strike, which gives them less of a chance once worn.

What value do you think the coin has

although its in VF condition its clipped in 2 places, & collectors of these are fussy & can get better examples, so on a really good day - £25-30.

Very cool find.

Congrats
Nice hammered

Spink 2015 Book Price is £40 in Fine, £175 in VF. But I always pick them up off ebay for close to 50% book price. Plus the Threepences, along with the Halfgroats are a Common find compared to other denominations, so plenty to choose from.
