Still excited about the Capped bust dime, I got out detecting today, but not to the same place as before. It was a park that hasn't yielded anything super old previously - oldest was a couple of 1800s IHCs. There are a boat load of signals, but most are shallow pull tabs and zincolns. However in a new area a few kids came over looking at what I was doing. I found a couple of cents for them, which they enjoyed. During that time I got what I thought was a good, deep signal but didn't want to dig it in front of them in case it was something good. So I wandered around a bit looking for shallow coins for them. After they left I couldn't find that target!!! I kept wandering around but it was nowhere to be found. But while gridding I got a solid dime tone at about 5 inches. After the plug was out, there was iron in it. DOH, could it have been it? No! The detector pinpointed the iron, but the target was still there. Got it out and in the dirt saw the edge of silver!

Took it over to my buddy and kept saying, "please don't be a 1980 Canadian dime..." Opened it up and... is that seated??? It sure was. Never expected that. Turns out to be an 1840 no drapery. What a beauty!

Finally found that "good" signal from when the kids were there... turned out to be a deep rusted pipe. Guess the dime made up for it!

Took a pic of this with the CBD from the other day. HH all!

Amazing finds, congrats!!!

Take for all of the great comments everyone! It was definitely tempting to do some dancing but fortunately I held off. Maybe if a matching barber dime shows up it will be dance time.
