The slightly frosty ground made it a little easier under foot but still pretty sticky. I was on my own today for just less than 4 hours on a field that produced an Iron Age Lynch Pin (last time I visited).
Today was a day of nearly's;

My smallest piece (0.21g) of a Roman silver siliqua (4th C) - still put me 1/1 with Dad this year:laughing7:
18th C Lead Military Button - which has been gashed right in the middle where the number/crest would be:tongue3:
Tudor Button
7 Scrappies
Lead Roman Steelyard Weight

Nice Silver, the rest might be nearby!

Great finds...as usual I enjoy looking at your posts.

That coin piece is tiny!!

I have gridded the whole area, & its not there. (if I can get a piece this big, the rest would be no probs:thumbsup: ) This field had a deep 12" plough & I think it got turn in.

Only ( VS PF AVG ) maybe either Honorivs .... is difficult for me :dontknow: , but certainly a Roman siliqua and three coppers good. :thumbsup:

Its has the bottom of the Wreath on the reverse, & no further clues, just a couple more letters would have had it. Not to worry, maybe 1 year I will get the rest after another deep plough (if they do it).

That is too cool. The coin just below and to the left of the Constantinus Votive looks silvered.....or is that just the lighting?

Seems like you find those Romans just about anywhere you go over there. I'd love to dig one but it's not happening over here. Good job on evening up the score with Cru'Dad.

Just the lighting, its the original patina, the rest is plough damage.

:laughing7: Not that simple. Carefully picked fields, this one is right next to the field that we had the most Roman Silver from last year. Its low priority as there is only a light scatter of coins, but with little other choice, its time to roll the dice. Good things often pop out the blue on old soil like this, so everything to play for.

I'm sure you will find good coins in this field ! :icon_thumleft:
