Found something the other day. What do you guys think of this? It seems to have a fusion crust, regmaglypts , cone orientation and a visible impact structure was found near it as well. Opinions? I did a bit of checking and it seems like there is a 3 year backlog for meteorite scientific identification and I would like to speed up the process...suggestions anyone? Stone weighs about 500 lbs. Stone itself is not attracted to a 150 lb pull magnet but some shavings off of the stone are attracted to a magnet. By the way...this was a witnessed fall.

Sure, here are some more pictures and a few after some cleaning has been done with some nylon brushes. More of the fusion crust is coming out in various places. There are many areas where the fusion crust has either eroded away to some degree or even completely gone exposing the inner material. Some of the photos show what appears to be the "nose" cone of the stone which appears to have been the leading part of the stone heading into the atmosphere. As the dirt comes of, more and more regmaglypts are coming into vies and sharpening their profiles.
From what I have determined, this stone fell around 120 to 130 years ago...

More pictures :laughing7: I'm surprised that I am not getting any expert opinions yet...stunned silence? Some may recognize that there appears to be a foreign substance on the stone...that would be correct. I can't go into details but that is indeed a thin layer of concrete on a small area of the stone...the mystery deepens.

Well I'm not an expert, but it certainly looks possible. Doesn't seem to have a lot of iron, but then, not all meteorites have a lot of iron: just most of them.
