Newbie's first hunt (CW era bullet & a Wheatie)

I went on my first hunt today after receiving a Garrett Ace 250 yesterday. A friend of my wife's had lost her engagement ring in her yard and asked if I could come try her property out as my first hunt...and hopefully pull a ring.

The site is a turn-of-the-century home with a massive oak tree in the back yard (will take a picture next hunt) located in a small North Georgia town. The home was recently remodeled so alot of trash to contend with...

Spent 3 hours in the 90 degree sunshine, props to all you guys and gals that's been doing this awhile, as I was totally spent when I left. I started the hunt not expecting to find much because of my newbness and the amount of trash I came across, but I did find a few goodies, but no ring. :(

My first Wheatie

Re: Newbie's first hunt

Welcome, nice first finds. Took me awhile to find my first wheaty, that spot has great potential grid it and work it slow

Re: Newbie's first hunt

I basically didn't follow any pattern just scans around large trees, entrance to house, etc. I have unlimited access...until they sell it.

2 things I discovered today...

1. Digging sux without a pinpointer.
2. Digging sux without knee pads.

Re: Newbie's first hunt

You found a bullet and a wheatie on your first trip out. Wow!

Man oh man...just figured out I had sensitivity set to 3 on my Ace 250. Wonder what I missed!!! Guess I'll find out next time.

Nice job on the digs. Knee pads are a must as well as pinpointer in my humble opinion. Keep it up jgas
