Hi all, just getting started with metal detecting and I have a question about belt pouches/packs. I noticed the other day when I was running some errands a couple guys doing some metal detecting and one looked like he was using a sling type shoulder bag like those messenger bags. I was going to stop on my way back and talk with them but they were gone by then. The question I have is does any of you use those and if so do they seem to work better than the belt/ fanny pack style? I've been using an old fanny pack and I need to replace it with something better or modify it to work better. Thanks in advance for your advice.

I agree with Terry. What ever feels comfortable, go with it.

While detecting once I found a camo fanny pack. It worked well as a finds pouch when I left my nail apron at home on a few occasions. My preference is the nail apron though for most of my urban hunting. When I swing the "12 x 15" coil I where my LBE as a harness for the detector, it has a finds pouch mounted.

Thanks for the info guys, I think I'll just stick with my old fanny pack (it's a camo one as well Loco) and modify it a little to suit me better.

i use a bird hunting vest/type of jacket,2 deep pockets with a mesh back.It has plenty of room for coins and pin pointers &
trash,

I use a dove hunting belt that came with 3 pouches ( I use 1 for keepers and 1 for trash). Comes in camo. About 20 bucks

The Garrett Diggers Camo pouch works for me...got two thanks to package deals... sometimes I'll bang out a quick hunt after work, and the pouches will be home...dammit! and like Jharhed, the cargo work shorts come into play

I use a husky 3 piece tool belt from home depot. The hammer holder is a lesche holder and slot for pin pointer or anything else. Plenty of room to hold the big trash that gets dug up. For 20 dollars though its been great.

I like the maxpedition megapouch. Especially if you dig in places with lots of trash.

http://m.homedepot.com/p/Husky-12-Pocket-Fabric-Handyman-Rig-HD793857/202311454 this is what i use. It was 20$ at home depot. My lesche fits in the hammer holder. And it has a spot that hold my xpointer great. Then i have plenty of space for all the junk i dig and few keepers[emoji16]

Well, I use a modular system suspender/belt system, with several pouches
Here is s link to see kinda what I use.

But, whatever you use, that works, stick with it.
After awhile, you might change - it all depends what and how much gear you use, and how long you'll
be away from your vehicle.
I go for comfort, versatility. accessibility.

I love going light, but my cargo pockets can fill up fast from the dirt and trash and then I cannot get the dirt out of my pockets even after I wash. I have to take my pants outside and shake the dirt out of the pockets when I use them. I alternate between a couple of pouches and I recently went back to using a carpenters belt.
