Good morning. Hope you guys enjoyed my creature as much as I have. I guess Texas A&M is my next stop. I was in a Home Depot wearing it, back when I didn't take it serious and a lady approached me and ask me what it was. I joked and said maybe a bat, and she said that is not a bat! She said it was prehistoric and she was in school and wanted her professor to see it, but I lost her email. She followed me to my truck to give it to me and made me nervous. I thought she was coming on to me :D. She said it was a creature that flew and swam, but lived in the water. I didn't cut it or make any alterations to it, except for the eyes. That is the way I found it.

Sincerely Yours,
Kidd Krappie

It is weird looking...I'm taking a guess with a horned toad. I can't find a skeleton or teeth pic...this is as close as I can get. I lived in the desert with them and thought they were cute. Comparing this pic with Kidd's pic...his has a much flatter head. PBK would know, I hope.
yeah me to....cant find a hellbender with the horns...still checking..

Determining if it is prehistoric is very easy to do, but first you have to clarify what is really meant by prehistoric. If by prehistoric she meant before humans began recording a written history we're talking roughly 5000. But if by prehistoric she meant that it comes from the dinosaur age we are talking millions of year ago. Even if her reference was only in relation to human history we're still talking 2.5MYA. So how do you determine the rough age? If it is in the 5000 year old prehistoric category the bone material will be discolored, very dry and brittle, and probably showing signs of being very porous. But if it is in the millions of years old prehistoric category the bone will have completely disappeared and will have been replaced by the minerals that surrounded the original bone when it was buried. It would also be heavier than the original bone. The pictures you posted definitely appear to be of real bone, and relatively recent bone at that. Note the shine on the smooth, curved parts of it. I'm no CSI, but I would guess that it is less than 10 years old and has been kept indoors for most of that time. The cut marks that have been pointed out also indicate they were made shortly after the death of the animal. Naturally, if it is an alien monster the biology of the creature might be different and nothing I have said will apply to it.

BTW, were there holes where you glued those stones? If there were, and the holes went all the way through the bone they are likely where tendons or nerves passed through the bone to connect to muscle tissue.

Crazy find, for sure!

Where did you find it? Forest? Buried? What condition was it in when you found it; it clearly looks cleaned up now.

Thanks for the pics, and good luck getting to the bottom of this.

Oh, and when you find out that it IS a non-earth life form, you would do well to leave this planet also, with the history of governments and their dealings with ET life.

Naw, just kidding. Sort of. ;D

I do declare...some people can find the darnest things. I never paid any attention to the Black Drum or Red Drum (Red Fish) throat. I've caught a many.
I do know that Sheepshead do have teeth, hence the name of this fish. Plus, you do not handle a speckled trout like a bass...they have fangs!

Learn something new everyday here.

Thanks for IDing Matt!! ;D
