Newbie Find in Delaware

[NorthernDelaware]

A friend invited me to go on a hike in a historical area last weekend. It's northern Delaware...it's historical everywhere! I borrowed a metal detector from my brother-in-law. After a short distance, I tried to figure out how the detector works. Minutes later and a little bit of digging... Now what do I do? LOL! It's almost 5 lbs and approx 4 inches x 4.5 inches x 1 inch. After removing a lot of rust this is what I have. I have no idea what it is.
