Hi everyone! My name is Ash just got my first metal detector this Feb. I'm in Pittsburgh and wondering where some good places to dig might be? I haven't got a chance to go out yet but I am lookin forward to it:-)

Hey Ash, welcome! I'm about 20 minutes north of PGH. I hear North park might be a place to check out. Its fairly old. Haven't been down that way myself, so check out Allegheny county park rules before digging. Also, around old shenly HS. Its closed and still owned by the city.

I know this might sound like a dumb question so please forgive....I'm not one that likes trouble...how do I know where I'm allowed to dig Sorry I'm new like brand new haha

Thats a tough question to answer actually. First, if its private property, ALWAYS ask permission from the property owner. If its public property and rules don't state no md'ing then well, use your best judgement. I think discretion is key. Going a low traffic times ie early morning or late evening before the park closes.
