Hello,
This is an inquiry from a writer authoring an article for the New York Times. If anyone can be of assistance, please contact the reporter. Thanks, Bergie
. MARITIME: Shipwreck Treasure -- Freelancer TOP^
For New York Times magazine (www.nytimes.com), I'm researching a feature about non-traditional treasure found in shipwrecks -- the luxury leather discovered on a cargo ship from pre-revolutionary Russia, for example, protected from the water by oily sealskin wrappers; or the champagne salvaged from a wreck in the Mediterranean. I'd like to hear about other such unexpected underwater treasure -- not bullion or jewels or archeological artifacts, but everyday commodities that have become precious cargo simply by the fact they were recovered from shipwrecks. Contact: Mark Ellwood, [email protected]
