Thanks to my wife Xmas morning I had a new Deus under the tree. So after the kids were done I was able to dig into the box. She ordered me the 9inch coil with the remote and the wired fx-02 headphones. Well after looking over everything I noticed no headphones are in the box so after letting the wife know she has been emailing with the seller and they finally told her today they're going to send out a set. So in the meantime I've been out 3 times using the speaker on the remote using the fast program and I have noticed that after about 2 hrs the coil is only showing 1 bar left on the battery status while the remote still has 3 bars left. Is this normal the only thing I changed in the program was full tones and disc down to 2. It seems like it charges fully 3 bars and the light slowly blinks when it's done. Will I be totally dead on a 3hr hunt or am I just being paranoid. Thanks for the help

Doesn't sound right to me. I have neglected charging for several hunts and never drained any of the batteries completely. Are you sure the coil was charged fully? Clip on correct direction? All USB connections tight? If so then somethings sounds wrong, hopefully not a bad coil.

Not normal, but also not unheard of (i.e., not necessarily defective). I would go ahead and let it discharge (by keeping the remote energized and paired with the coil, you can just leave it in the house and turn off the speaker) then charge it again until full and see if the coil is still lagging the remote battery capacity wise. Give it two or three of these charge/discharge cycles to attempt to recover coil battery capacity before you call the dealer or XP Americas for a service ticket. The fact that the headphones were not included is suspicious to me that the package was used and possibly returned because of the issue you are seeing. Also, you can plug any set of earbuds or headphones with a 1/8" mini-jack in the remote in the meantime, if the cord is too short, you can just stuff the remote in your pocket and pull it out if you need to see the display or have a questionable tone that requires you to see the target ID. I would really, really consider ultimately getting the wireless phones in the long run (my preference is the WS4 backphones because they are waterproof and the headphone puck is detachable and can be mounted on compatible full ear headphones or connected to wired phones via a third party adapter and slipped in your pocket while you keep the remote on the stem). The hassle of the headphone cord is a great impediment to leave behind.

vferrari is totally correct. Totally discharge it then recharge. Run it out, do this at least twice and you will "teach" the battery what full is. A buddy had the exact same problem and that fixed it on the 2nd charge. This was only a month ago.

Hey thanks for the quick responses everyone, hopefully it's not a bad coil, going out tomorrow with it I'll let it discharge all the way a few times and see what happens. I'll let you guys know how it works out. Thanks

Good luck and enjoy your new Christmas present, it is an awesome machine.

Yep I thought the same about the box not having the headphones that maybe it was a returned item. Definitely gonna look at new headphones but the wired ones will have to do for now. Don't think I could justify a new set to the wife yet.

Gonna give it a shot hope it helps

Yep checked and double checked

Common problem on new coils, reload the firmware V4.1 or V4.0 to your remote and coil and will be good to go!

That exactly what I did to fix mine....... it was the firmware. Just update your remote and coil to the lastest version on deus site.

Make sure all of your components are fully charged when you do the reload.

I had the same problem last year and did what Austin and Calabash did to fix it.

Thanks everyone that seems to have done the trick. Took It out today for about 4hrs no battery loss that I could see. Went to a spot I've pounded with my AT Pro over the last few years and managed squeeze out a fired 3 ringer, some camp lead, flat button, old brass wedding band and few scraps of brass. I think the Deus is gonna wake up some of my old spots

learn it well and it will serve you well ! good luck and congrats.
